SAP Partner Summit 2026 in Amsterdam: What It Means for SAP Business One Users
What Was the SAP Partner Summit 2026 in Amsterdam?
The summit is SAP’s gathering for partners across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This year’s theme was “Your market. Your move.” According to SAP, partners get direct access to the product roadmap, go-to-market plans and SAP leaders, with AI, business priorities and planning for 2027 at the centre. It ran in person only, with no livestream, so being in the room mattered. Our team went with three aims: compare cloud and AI approaches with other SAP Business One partners, understand what the move to the Web Client on HANA means for customer projects, and talk about automation for the process gaps that standard SAP Business One leaves open.Who Spoke at the SAP Partner Summit, and What Did They Cover?
The programme ran across keynotes, breakout sessions and an expo hall. One session we can point to by name was the panel “AI, Talent & Transformation: Building the Confidence to Lead What’s Next”. It brought together four people from SAP and its partner community:- Karl Fahrbach, Chief Partner Officer at SAP
- Madeline McCrea, Global SVP Strategic Partnerships at SAP
- Marlene Beyer, SAP AI & Innovation Leader at Deloitte EMEA
- Abigail (Abi) Allman, Global Head of Channel at Resulting IT
Where Is SAP Business One Heading?
The direction is visible in SAP’s published roadmap and in recent release notes, as reported by partner sites. Four themes stand out. Plans can change, so treat dates as targets.- The Web Client takes the lead. It runs in the browser, is built on SAP Fiori and works on the same company database as the desktop client. The latest feature package, 10.0 FP 2608, adds MRP, pick and pack, payment runs, bank reconciliation, a calendar and project management. The roadmap calls it the primary interface, with the desktop client staying available in the short term.
- AI arrives inside the screens people already use. The Web Client gets an “Ask AI” function for context-aware questions on business documents, and AI-assisted SQL for user-defined queries, so a report can start from a plain-language request. Partners can also build their own extensions on SAP’s Generative AI Hub, and the roadmap mentions open source MCP server support for AI agent scenarios.
- Version 11 is announced for 2027. Plans include multi-tenant cloud deployment on major hyperscaler platforms, automated updates, connections to SharePoint, Google Drive and OneDrive, stronger sign-in security, and item variants and BOM versioning in the standard product.
- Compliance keeps expanding. The roadmap lists e-invoicing for Peppol, Germany’s XRechnung, Poland’s KSeF and French e-invoicing, plus German and Polish reporting formats.
What Does This Mean for a Company Running SAP Business One Today?
Nobody needs to rush, but waiting without a plan is the riskier choice. The roadmap says there is limited overlap between version 10 and version 11, and that partners and customers investing in the Web Client, the Service Layer and SAP BTP extensions are preparing for version 11. A sensible order of work looks like this:- Check your add-ons and customisations. Find out which ones already work with the Web Client and which need changes.
- Tidy your data before you add AI. Features such as Ask AI can only work with what is in the system, so duplicate items, inconsistent customer records and missing fields will show up in the answers.
- List your manual steps. Re-keying orders, chasing approvals and reconciling spreadsheets are the first candidates for automation.
- Review your compliance calendar. If you invoice in countries moving to e-invoicing, ask your partner which release covers them.
